FEATURED PROJECTS

Scout

"The Leader"

Chief is a BLM mustang from the Streens mountains herd. I bought Chief for my daughter after we lost our gelding in 2017. He ended up being a way bigger challenge than we initially thought. He got adopted out to a TIP program and then sent to the auction, after all that we bought him. He's had a long journey, but its just beginning.

Scout is a BLM mustang from the Warm Springs herd. He ignited my passion for the mustangs. He came in a group to the barn I was boarding at as a TIP horse. When I first saw him, I knew he was mine. I bought him from the man that brought him in and started my journey with the mustangs.

"The Baby"

Dilly

"The Proof"

Dilly is a breeding stock paint Quarter Horse by Color Me a Fist and out of Shadows Valentice. Dilly is our old geldings half-sister. After he died, she was offered to us, and that was obviously an offer we couldn't refuse. She was trained young and then was thrown out in a field for years. When we brought her home, I thought we were bringing her home to die. She was lame and obviously had been for a long time. We brought her home, and needless to say, she's still here. Shes a big project, and her story is one for the books.

What We Do

Here at Amk Horsemanship, we strive to be the best teachers possible for both horse and rider. Our core methodology is based on natural horsemanship with a focus on clear communication and building a trusting relationship. We believe that every horse requires three things to learn effectively and reach their full potential.

     1. To be healthy and sound

     2. Fully trust their rider

     3. Understand what is being asked of them

Pony Parties

We do pony parties, birthday parties, and small animal petting zoos. Our ponies are to small to ride, so sadly, that is not an option, but you can brush them, take pictures, and show them some love. We'll dress them up for party themes too! Try something new at your next party!

Problem horses

Are you having trouble with your horse? Wanting to understand your horse better? We are always more than happy to help with any situation. There is no problem too big or too small. Let us help you achieve your goals. Currently, we do not have openings for boarding horses with us, but we are available to work with you at your current location.

Lessons

We give hands-on private lessons that focus on the horse. We teach English, Western, and casual riding, but first, we start with groundwork. You'll learn the basics of grooming, spotting injuries, and learning what the horse's movements mean. After that, we teach nutrition, dealing with spooky horses, and how to handle scary situations. We'll teach you everything we know and more!
